December Update on Katrina Calls poured in to the Housing Authority from so many wonderful people in the community offering jobs, counseling, food, services, cleaning, furniture, money, clothing and just about everything else imaginable. For the evacuees that choose the Delta-Montrose area, they are in for a treat. We routinely offer our dorm to the homeless; the Katrina evacuees will likewise now have a very nice place to stay if they end up in the dorm. Efforts are underway to find employment as well as housing for them. We have kept a master list of the nearly 100 calls we have gotten from members in the community that have offered to help with food, clothing, counseling, jobs and much more. We will use this page in our website to keep you, the public, informed about events at the dorm as they relate to Katrina. We would like to take the opportunity to thank each of you for your concern and generous gifts. We especially want to recognize the efforts of the students and Montrose High School for their many fundraising projects in September. It is our pleasure to be able to help the families that lost everything during this unfortunate natural disaster.
